FISA website unavailability on 13 October 2020

Barbara Kerr, FISA website administrator, and part-owner of the company LightSpeed Development, who hosts the website for FISA, provided the following information regarding the unavailability of the FISA website on Tuesday 13 October 2020:

LightSpeed Development was the victim of a cyber attack that encrypted some of our systems early morning on 13 October 2020. As a result, many of our online services were interrupted. We immediately began to assess the nature of the attack and began remediation, which took the best part of 8 hours.

We can confirm that no customer data was accessed, lost or stolen. We will provide further information to the FISA Council in due course on the steps taken during the remediation process as well as the measures we are putting in place to mitigate this happening again.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you very much for your patience, support and understanding during this stressful process. We sincerely regret any inconvenience and anxiety the downtime caused and we look forward to continuing to provide you with exceptional service and support.

Best wishes
The LightSpeed Team
