New FISA chairperson and vice-chairperson elected

At the constituting meeting of the new FISA council after the annual general meeting of FISA on 10 April 2025, Mr Chris Murphy was elected as the new chairperson of FISA for the next two years. With Chris vacating the position of vice-chairperson upon his election as chairperson an election for vice-chairperson also became necessary. Council elected Ms Rumana Mahomed as vice-chairperson for the next two years.

Chris is a regional councillor in his capacity as chairperson of the Western Cape regional committee, while Rumana is a regional councillor in her capacity as chairperson of the KwaZulu-Natal regional committee.

At the same meeting, the council welcomed Dr Rika van Zyl as the new nationally elected councillor in the place of Mr Aaron Roup, and Ms Renate Jute as the new regional councillor in her capacity as chairperson of the Gauteng regional committee in the place of Ms Penny du Plessis.
