Previously, the smallest acceptable fraction for CPD allocation was half a point (30 minutes). Where a member spent more than 15 minutes but less than 30 minutes on an activity, the time could be rounded up to 30 minutes. Time spent of less than 15 minutes did not qualify for CPD points.
FISA has since developed a function that automatically allocates CPD points to members for reading summarised court cases and articles featured in the weekly newsletter. Although these items contain relevant and important information, reading a court case and/or article will very seldom take longer than 15 minutes. To ensure that members are able to obtain the necessary CPD points, Council decided on 14 April 2026 to amend the smallest acceptable fraction to a quarter point (15 minutes). The CPD points which will be automatically earned for reading the abovementioned content will be clearly specified.
Paragraph 5.8 of the CPD Charter has been amended accordingly. To view the amended CPD Charter please click here.
