Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Albert Einstein said the following: “The only person who is educated is the one who has learned how to learn and change.”

All FISA members subscribed to the Code of Ethics and of Professional and Responsible Conduct as well as to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programme Charter when they joined FISA and when they renewed their membership.

Week 4: Verifiable vs Non-Verifiable CPD Activities

Not all Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities carry the same weight. To ensure fairness and accountability, the FISA CPD Programme distinguishes between verifiable and non-verifiable activities.

Recognised Verifiable Activities are those where:

  • An attendance register has been kept
  • A formal record of assessment has been created
  • A qualification has been awarded
  • A tangible output has been created by the member (books, study guides, articles, or training programmes)
  • Participation and contribution have been recorded (committee membership)

Non-Verifiable Activities (where the member is the only person who can attest to the acquisition of such activity) would include the following:

  • Independent reading
  • Self-study
  • Informal learning without external validation

Members should please take note that at least 40 of the required 60 CPD points over a two-year cycle must be verifiable. Members are also encouraged to review their logged CPD points to see whether they meet the minimum requirements for verifiable activities.
