It is with extreme sadness that we have to share the news that Mr Colin Hickling passed away just before midnight on Saturday, 1 June 2024. He was 86 years old.
Among his many public offices, Colin was a previous board member and vice-chairperson of the SABC, Chairperson of Sentech, and Mayor of Bloemfontein (1985 – 1986).
Colin was a versatile, remarkable, sincere and thoroughly decent human being and a dear friend. His humility despite his many achievements was remarkable and his commitment to service in FISA as regional councillor (2013 – 2019) after his much more illustrious previous public offices is just one example of this. FISA awarded the FISA Chairperson’s Award to him in 2019. Funeral arrangements have not been finalised, but it looks likely to be on 13 June in Bloemfontein.
