Money Marketing: Finfluencers – finance’s new “F-word”?

In Money Marketing, Henda Kleingeld examines the growing influence of financial “finfluencers” and the risks they pose to consumers. She notes that social media has made financial information more accessible, but stresses the crucial difference between sharing information and providing regulated advice.

Henda says consumers should question the credentials and motivations of online financial personalities and distinguish education from personalised recommendations. Professional financial advisers remain important because they understand clients’ individual circumstances, goals and risk profiles.

Henda argues that finfluencers are not necessarily a threat, but another source of information.
