Following an enquiry, the Master’s Office clarified that a watermarked copy of each appointment letter is published on the Master’s web portal. The original appointment letter is either emailed directly to the executor or placed in a pigeonhole/Masters Box, allowing them to print as many copies as required.
If the printing is of poor quality, or if a copy of a copy is made, the QR code may become distorted. In such cases, the “not valid” response does not mean the appointment itself is invalid, but rather that the QR code is unrecognisable or was not generated by the system. Where banks encounter difficulties in verifying an appointment letter, they should be asked to verify the QR code against the watermarked copy on the Master’s web portal.
