The current CPD cycle for the period 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2026 is coming to an end. All members are reminded to log their CPD points as prescribed in the Continuing Professional Development (“CPD”) Programme Charter. To view the Charter, please click here.
The following is a recap of the CPD requirements and calculations in terms of paragraph 5 of the Charter:
- Each member must accumulate 60 points per two-year cycle.
- At least 40 of the 60 points must be verifiable (e.g. recorded attendance, qualifications and formal assessments).
- At least 40 points must fall within your certified fiduciary area(s) of expertise.
- At least 5 points must be in the area of Law and Ethics in Fiduciary Services.
Members joining during the cycle are required to accumulate pro rata CPD points.
- If you joined FISA after the current cycle began on 1 January 2025, your requirement is calculated on a pro rata basis of 2.5 points per month for the remaining months in the cycle, starting from the first day of the month after joining.
- For example, if you joined in April 2025, 20 months remain in the current two-year cycle. Multiply this by 2.5 points. You therefore need to accumulate 50 CPD points before the end of the cycle.
- If you joined during the second year of the cycle, for example in June 2026, six months remain in the cycle. Multiply this by 2.5 points, which means you only need to accumulate 15 points by the end of the cycle.
CPD points can be earned for the activities listed in paragraphs 4.2.1 to 4.2.10 of the Charter.
Earning points is easier than you think.
- On 19 March 2026, FISA announced that CPD points for attending quarterly regional meetings, the AGM and the annual conference are now automatically logged to your profile within 7 to 10 days after participation is confirmed. You no longer need to capture these manually. On average, members can earn about 16 CPD points per cycle simply by attending regional meetings (in person or online) and 14 CPD points per cycle by attending the annual conference (in person or by purchasing the recording). - On 23 April 2026, FISA announced that CPD points are automatically allocated for reading certain court case summaries and other news articles featured in the newsletter and on the website. From 23 April 2026 to 30 October 2026, you could have automatically earned 12.5 CPD points simply by reading the newsletter and website content.
