It is with profound sadness that we report the passing of Leigh Petrie, long-standing FISA member, FPSA® and member of the FISA disciplinary committee.
Louis van Vuren, FISA CEO, said that he had met Leigh more than 20 years ago and had always observed nothing other than respect for him from all who knew him. Previous FISA chairperson, Dr Eben Nel, said that Leigh was the perfect gentleman and his contribution to the industry was immense.
His colleagues at Pelennor Consulting provided the following eulogy:
Leigh was not just a businessman; he was a visionary who embarked on the journey of entrepreneurship with Pelennor during October 2020, amidst the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to this bold step, Leigh dedicated 24 years of his life at PwC and ended his time there as an Associate Director. He had extensive experience in advising clients on their personal estate affairs, encompassing the intricate realms of tax, legal aspects of Trusts, Wills, and the administration of deceased estates.
What set Leigh apart was not only his professional acumen but his profound humanity. He nurtured a workplace culture at Pelennor where colleagues weren’t just coworkers but family. Leigh’s office was adorned with creations from his passion for building adult LEGO sets, each piece a testament to his creativity and dedication.
Leigh’s pride and joy were his beloved family: his wife, Leisel, and their two children, Abi and Cameron. He cherished witnessing both his children achieve milestones, especially their graduations. His son joined Pelennor this year to gain experience in a field that his dad was so passionate about.
Leigh’s untimely passing leaves behind a void in our hearts and a wealth of knowledge that will be dearly missed. His memory lives on through the impact he made on all who knew him, professionally and personally. Rest in peace, Leigh, knowing your legacy continues to inspire and guide us.
