In Memoriam

Nico Andrew Theo Botha (14 March 1953 – 13 June 2021) passed away on Sunday. Nico suffered a stroke earlier this year and was under medical treatment for several months before his death.

Nico was a giant in the fiduciary industry where he served since the 1970’s when he was employed by Security Executors and Trust which formed part of the erstwhile Metboard, before joining Bloemfontein Board of Executors (Bloemboard), where he was chief executive. After Bloemboard was taken over by Syfrets, Nico was transferred to Johannesburg and became chief executive of Syfrets Trust. In 2003 Syfrets Trust, Old Mutual Trust and the trust division of BoE Private Bank was merged into BoE Trust, and Nico became its first chief executive. He continued in this role until his retirement in 2008. He remained a director of BoE Trust for some years, and was a director of several companies in the fiduciary industry over the years, e.g. Syfrets Trust, Old Mutual Trust, Nedgroup Trust, Nedgroup Trust KZN, Nedgroup Beneficiaries Solutions, Stellenbosch Trustees and Stellentrust Holdings.

The FISA Council extends its sincere condolences to his wife Joyce and their children.
