Master’s Offices systems development

FISA members from our Gauteng region were involved in testing new Master’s Office online systems this week. FISA councillor, Ms Angélique Krügel reports as follows:

“We are overjoyed that the Department of Justice is embracing technology to enhance the estate administration process. It is going to revolutionise our industry when it is up and running.

Part of the change is that Letters of Executorships are going to be issued with a QR Code as well as an electronic stamp. This is going to assist in verifying the Letters of Executorship for financial institutions, etc.

As we are piloting the online process with JHB this week, they have implemented it from today (30 March) (not only for the test team but the entire office). Our members and external parties may not recognise the new format and we wish to alert our members in this regard.

They are busy preparing a Chief Master’s Directive to inform all interested parties. This may, however, only be going out late today or tomorrow as there is a process to follow before a Directive may be distributed.”
