Moneyweb: Stakeholders demand stability in Master’s Offices

South Africa’s fiduciary industry is calling for urgent, permanent appointments at the Masters’ Offices, warning that leadership instability and operational failures are worsening delays in deceased estates, trusts and insolvencies.

FISA, the Johannesburg Attorneys’ Association and SARIPA say chronic staff shortages, vacant senior posts and repeated network outages have disrupted services, leaving practitioners unable to lodge documents or access electronic systems for extended periods. “The Master’s Office is simply too important an institution to be left in a state of uncertainty for such a prolonged period,” said Jan du Plessis, Chief Executive of FISA.

Stakeholders say stable leadership, adequate staffing and reliable IT systems are essential to restore public confidence and improve service delivery.
