Press release – Dr Ronel Williams wins the 2022 FISA Chairperson’s Award

At the 12th Annual FISA Conference held at the Sandton Convention Centre on 9 November, the annual FISA Chairperson’s Award was handed to Dr Ronel Williams, in recognition of her significant and major contribution to the fiduciary profession.

Dr Williams is the Head of Client Legal and Administration at TrustQore (Mauritius) Ltd (previously GMG Trust Ltd). She heads up the administration teams responsible for client administration services and provides technical and legal support to the teams.

Prior to joining GMG Trust in 2019, she worked as a fiduciary specialist at Nedgroup Trust for eight years and at Nedbank Private Wealth for six years. Dr Williams started her career with the Department of Justice and has over 25 years’ experience in the fiduciary field. She served as Chairperson of the Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa (FISA) for three years and as National Councillor for five years. She has been a speaker at several FISA conferences.

Dr Williams was admitted as a (non-practising) Advocate of the High Court in South Africa. She is a Fiduciary Practitioner of South Africa®(FPSA®), Master Tax Practitioner (SA), and a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She holds the degrees BA, LLB, LLM (with distinction) and LLD, a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning and a Postgraduate Diploma in Tax Law.


More about the FISA Chairperson’s Award

The award is given annually to the person who, in the estimation of the FISA Chairperson and the FISA Council, has made a remarkable and significant contribution to the fiduciary profession. Nominations are called for in the months leading up to the FISA Conference. No sitting FISA Councillor or any employee of or contractor to FISA is eligible. See past winners here.
