Tech4Law: FISA’s 16th Annual Conference, sponsored by Hollard Court Bonds, to tackle the changing face of fiduciary practice

FISA’s 16th Annual Conference will examine the changing face of fiduciary practice under the theme “Risk vs Reward in Fiduciary Practice”, writes FISA CEO Jan du Plessis in Tech4Law. Taking place on 9 September 2026 at the Sandton Convention Centre, the conference will address the growing complexity facing trustees, executors, estate planners and fiduciary advisers, including regulatory reform, compliance, governance, technology and changing client expectations.

Speakers will explore stronger governance and forensic practices, proposed exchange-control regulations, the Constitutional Court’s recent consideration of the anti-avoidance rule, and the role of artificial intelligence in fiduciary work. Other topics include the taxation of life policies, conflicts of interest, professional accountability and value creation. A regulatory update from the Chief Master will provide insight into developments affecting estates and trusts. A panel discussion will also consider whether trust services remain commercially viable amid increasing legal, compliance and operational liabilities.
