Update to the Trust Panel at the 2026 FISA Conference

In the newsletter of 24 July 2026, you were invited to attend a panel discussion on the topic: “Is it still worth providing trust services, given the severe compliance, legal, and operational liabilities of trustees and trust service providers?”

Please note that Prof. Bradley Smith is no longer able to participate in the panel. He will be replaced by Dr. Rika van Zyl, who brings extensive expertise in trust law and fiduciary practice.

Dr. Rika van Zyl is a senior lecturer at the School for Financial Planning Law since 2008
when she completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning and later
completed her LLD studies in 2017 in Trust Law at UFS. She is a CFP®, FPSA®, and
TEP as well as an Advocate of the High Court. She is currently the Program Director of
the Advanced Diploma in Estate and Trust Administration at the UFS and focuses her
research on related topics.
