Louis van Vuren steps down as FISA CEO today and incoming CEO Jan du Plessis takes over officially from tomorrow, following a hand-over period of two months.
While extending a warm welcome to Jan, the FISA Council would like to take this opportunity to extend a deep and sincere thanks to Louis for his leadership and immense contribution over the past 12 years.
As Dr Eben Nel, FISA National Councillor and past Chairperson, puts it: “Louis has an absolute passion for the industry. I have seldom found someone more committed to his daily task. He has sacrificially dedicated the past fifteen years to professionalising the fiduciary industry rather than building his own practice. The main characteristics of Louis that I experienced and appreciated were his integrity, analytical abilities, and straightforwardness.”
Eben speaks for many when he says that Louis carries a wealth of institutional and technical knowledge which he has always freely shared in Council and elsewhere within the fiduciary environment. His legacy deserves to be nurtured and built upon in the future by all fiduciary practitioners.
And so, we wish Louis all the very best in his “FISA retirement” and hope that he may have many long trips to the bush to engage in his love of wildlife photography; enjoy long road trips with Rita his wife on their motorbikes; and enjoy their grandchildren!
