
Mr Jan du Plessis has accepted an offer from the FISA Council to take up the position of chief executive officer (CEO) of FISA, with effect from 1 August 2025. This follows a recruitment process that has been ongoing since the beginning of 2025, after the current CEO, Louis van Vuren, notified the FISA Council in November 2024 that he wished to vacate the position.
Jan comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fiduciary industry. He holds the degrees, B Iuris, B Proc, LLB and LLM (all UNISA) and, amongst others, a Diploma in Executive Management from the Graduate Institute of Management and Technology. Jan entered the service of the Department of Justice in 1988 as an estate controller in the Kimberley Master’s Office and became Master of the High Court, Kimberley in 1997, a position he held until 2007 when he was transferred and became Master of the High Court in Bloemfontein. He retired from the civil service with effect from 1 June 2025. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
There will be a two-month hand-over period between Louis and Jan.
