Johannesburg Master’s Office staff members including acting Master, Ms Bea Van Wyk, are working under unacceptable conditions without lighting, heating or power supply for their computers. Some staff have been on duty since 07:00 this morning in these conditions.
Electricity supply in the section of the Johannesburg CBD where the Johannesburg Master’s Office is situated has been disrupted for several days now. Click here for a City Power notice about this. This is not the first time that the power supply has been disrupted and it is unlikely to be the last time.
The Johannesburg Attorneys Association (JAA) has started an initiative to call for donations to raise funds to purchase backup power packs to make sure computers can be operated as well as rechargeable lighting, and to supply blankets, hot drinks, etc. to staff who are doing their best to serve industry and clients under very trying conditions. It was decided to support this initiative.
This is a call to FISA members to consider making donations to this fund on a purely voluntary basis. The assistance will be positioned as coming from industry and not just from the JAA.
