In the September edition of MoneyMarketing, outgoing FISA CEO Louis van Vuren discusses wills and emphasises that expert advice is required to draft this vitally important document. There are, at least, twenty different pieces of legislation that can have an impact on the average person’s estate planning and will. It is best to get professional help from someone who has a fundamentally sound understanding of not only the legal side of things, but also the estate planning side. For example, a professional with the designation of Fiduciary Practitioner of South Africa (FPSA®) will meet the necessary standards.
The School of Financial Planning Law at the University of the Free state and FISA co-operated more than a decade ago to introduce the Advanced Diploma in Estate and Trust Administration. If successfully completed, a FISA member may then apply to be awarded the FPSA® designation.
