Process to escalate SARS problems

FISA has been in contact with the South Africa Revenue Service (SARS) about the issues relating to estates and trusts, in connection with the coding and changing of registered details.  A workshop with SARS will be held soon to discuss ways to address these issues.

In the meantime, FISA received the following communication from the SARS representative, Ms Devhani Munsamy:

“We are aware of the current problems experienced by your members regarding Estate related cases, especially relating to coding and changing of registered details. As one of our key stakeholders, we would like to advise you that we are addressing the problem as a matter of urgency.  Please can you advise your members that we will provide feedback on these issues and will keep you updated of any changes.

As per my mail on Friday, we are arranging a workshop with some of your members to discuss the challenges experienced on this matter.  The objective is to jointly find a solution that will make it easier for clients to be tax compliant.

Our website information provides details of all channels that are available for contacting SARS and would suggest the use of the online channels especially during this time of COVID-19.  In the interim, if there is an urgent escalation and all of the general channels has been exhausted and response times expired, please can you arrange that these issues be forwarded via your secretariat …
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.”

With regard to the escalation process referred to in bold above, please refer all such matters, with a full description of the issue involved to secretariat@fisa.net.za.  The matter will then be forwarded to SARS.
