The acting Chief Master, Ms Penelope Roberts, issued a directive explaining the use of QR codes and other security features on letters of executorship and letters of authorisation in deceased estates. The new documents will be phased in starting with the Johannesburg Master’s Office (where it is in use already) and then KwaZulu-Natal, after which it will be rolled out to the rest of the country.
